Wix to WordPress transfer

  I have a website (and domain) that I purchased through Wix. The website renews annually, the domain I have another year with it. I would like to transfer to Wix and not renew with them. I’m reading a lot of different things online, about how to transfer to WordPress. I wondering if there’s anyone that did it that could share any helpful tips.
  Can I make the transfer myself or should I pay someone to do it for me?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet
