  • Hello,

It looks like your blog already has this domain mapped to it, and visiting your wordpress.com address redirects me to your mblascari.com address. Is everything working properly for you now?

    Cheers!

Thanks for responding. I would actually like my url to begin with www. So it should be http://www.mblascari.com How do I accomplish that?

  • Your domain, http://www.mblascari.com, will always be redirected to mblascari.com, so you can feel free to use either version on your business cards or elsewhere.

Redirecting the first version of your URL to the second version helps to ensure that search engines index your site properly.

Don’t hesitate to contact me again if you need anymore help.

In my experience, when someone types a url beginning with www into an address box of a browser, what returns is still shows “www.” That’s what I want it to be for my url. I want the result to be “www.mblascari.com, ” not “mblascari.com.” Can I get this?

    Hi there Mary!

All WordPress.com sites are shown without www before their domain names. This is not something that can be adjusted. The default URL structure (mblascari.com) is known as a canonical URL. If your site did not have a canonical URL (was available at both http://www.mblascari.com and mblascari.com), your page rank and SEO could be diluted. As a result, we default to the mblascari.net URL structure.

I think you’ll find this happening more and more online and will soon become the “norm” for URLs, as it’s technically unnecessary. (ie. twitter.com)

It is fine if you send out your link with www — or if you print it on your business cards, etc — because whenever a user types that into their address bar, they will be sent to your site.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks so much!
