wondering why im being charged if its free

yes im new and creating a blog account. Was excited when i noticed 1 yr free and wanted to get that but im still being routed to my paypal account to take money, i dont understand and had to pause there to ask why??

You currently have two free sites and you can keep them that way, no need to upgrade.
However, if you’re looking to register a custom domain then the domain is free to register with any of our paid plans during the first year.
