Wong username

Hi. Ive recently installed wordpress on Dreamhost. Ive installed the plugin jetpack and connected it to wordpress.com. However the username on the account I have connected to is some one completley different but still with my email address. Is it normal to be given a random username or has it linked to someone elses account? Thanks for your help

Hi there,
If you connected Jetpack without creating a WordPress.com username account first, our system would have randomly generated a username for you on our end. But as long as this account shows your email address at https://wordpress.com/me/account/, you own the account.
It doesn’t matter if this username is different from the admin username on your site itself. The WordPress.com username also won’t appear anywhere on your site itself – there it will always use the username of the admin account as indicated in the site’s database.

I’m now fairly sure this account is dodgy and it has linked to my email. I cant get rid of it. I tried to delete it completley to start again with a new email it says there is a problem deleting it and to contact support. Does anyone know how I can resolve this please?

Ok great. That makes sense now. The randomly generated name matched up to words used in spam posts so I got a bit worried and I couldnt find anything anywhere on the subject. Many thanks for your help it is much appreciated.
