Won't allow my email comments on my own Blog
-
Error message: “That email address is associated with an existing WordPress.com account, please log in to use it.”
Logged in to my WordPress account using my personal email address I have used for six years with WP — suddenly this afternoon it gives me the error message above. I have tried signing out and logging back in but I get the same error message. Have cleaned all cookies to no avail.
From the sound of the message — we may have a security issue.
I am able to comment on my blog with my Gmail address but do not want to use it. Appreciate some help. Thanks.

Followup Note:
I get same error message whether logged in to my ExPreacherMan.com WP account or not.
Very frustrating. Thanks.. Jack (aka ExPreacherMan)

Howdy,
We’ve deployed a couple of fixes that should take care of this issue.
Could you try commenting again?
-
Chris, Thanks
Sorry but it did not work. I logged out and tried it using the email address associated with my WP account — then logged in and tried it to no avail. But got this slightly different message.
That email address is associated with an existing WordPress.com (or Gravatar.com) account. Please click the back button in your browser and then log in to use it.
If we can turn off “Public” on this thread, I will send you my WP associated email address so you can try to comment on my blog using it to see if you can duplicate the error.
Thanks, Jack

Just tried the same scenario on my wife’s CPU and got the same error message as the last above… So it is not something in my settings or cookies, etc that are causing the problem.

Can you please try clearing out your cache? Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?
-
Cleaned the cache — same error message still occurs. My regular browser is Firefox 11.0.
I get the same error message in IE 8.0.6001. Cannot use Chrome — I’m 3/4 blind and cannot get the GUI to work properly for my last remaining poor eye.
Keep trying — it is definitely an annoyance. Not the browser or my computer.
Thank you, Jack AKA ExPreacherMan.

Which email address are you trying to use, and which WordPress.com account are you logging in as?
-
I will be happy to send my email address to you tech guys — but it must either be by private email or if you can turn OFF the PUBLIC nature of this particular issue. I get enough spam mail now without advertising it to the world.
Whether I am logged in to my account or not, the error message is the same. I am trying to comment on any one of my 330 some odd posts at my personal web site hosted by WP. The post I use as a test is: http://expreacherman.com/2006/01/25/its-meme-day-wednesday/ because there were no comments back in January of ’06. But the same error message appears on comments for the latest posts.

Macmanx,
I sent my email to your attention — and have not heard from you about a solution to my severe problem.
I tried logging into another WP account and got a similar error message in two cases, when I tried my normal email address and even when I tried my alternate gmail address.
The error message says I must sign in to the WP account that uses my primary address — *which I am already signed in to! Basically the same error with my alternate address.
Would it help if I could attach a screen shot of the error messages?
Very Frustrated.. Thanks,
Jack, AKA ExPreacherMan.com
This is very frustrating

I can’t seem to find any email from you. Did you send it from the email address on your expreacherman account or a different email address?

MacManx
Just as you requested, “at support@wordpress.com via the email address you’re using.”
I will send it again right now, Attn to you via my regular email account.
Thanks, Jack

Sending it attn to me won’t help. We have a few thousand folks waiting for a support response, so I won’t be able to track it down. What was the email address that you sent it from?
-
MacManx
I had requested that my primary email address not be broadcast to the world..
But if you cannot make this private, I must do it and worry about the spam.

I answered to James via email with a case number on the subject line… will he see it??
Or do I need to answer here?
