Won't let me create new posts or edit the blog's appearance.

WordPress let’s me sign in to the blog, and see the backend page, but every time I try to create a new post or edit the appearance, it takes me to a new window and asks for my username and password, which it tells me is invalid.
What’s the deal?

We cannot help you with any site that is not hosted by WordPress.COM and that site is not one of them. Our support docs do not apply to it and you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG and need support for that site and if you do not have a WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

Thank you so much! I’m taking over managing the blogs from someone who didn’t give me any information, so I’m figuring everything out the hard way! I appreciate the clarification.
