Won't let me opt out of Publicize?

I just have a question about the publicize option. It works and all for me (it connects and works perfectly), but I want to know how I can opt out of publicize on certain posts. Like I want to publicize certain posts on Facebook and not all of them like it automatically does.

According to the support sections on traffic, if I uncheck the Facebook option on publicize when I make a post on my website, it won’t publicize (I can opt out). Thing is, I have done that to several scheduled posts (I unchecked Facebook publicizing) and for some reason regardless, it still posts on my Facebook when it automatically posts as scheduled. I look back at the edit screen and Facebook is still unchecked..

Does opting out of publicize only work for posts you want immediately published? or am I experiencing some bugs or something with opting out of publicize on scheduled posts?

    Thanks

That’s one reason I disconnected my wp.com & facebook accounts — the publicize function was wonky & would post my wp.com posts to my fb wall even when I had unchecked it. I don’t know why it does it or whether the problem is on the wp.com end or the fb end, but since I only rarely wanted to publicize to FB, I disconnected the two. Now I occasionally just use the ‘share’ button if I want to post a particular article — that’s better for me, anyway, since then I can choose whether to post to my own wall or to a group, etc.

I know this isn’t exactly a “fix” for you, but you’re not experiencing a unique bug, and this was how I handled it.

You could try disconnecting then reconnecting the two accounts. Resetting everything might help.

Thank You very much. I think I will do the share button then because I have more control over it. Ill do the reset and see if it works better, if not I think I will go for your suggestion.

Have you looked into using RSS Graffiti as an alternative?

RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify.

You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination. http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti

That would work if you used a specific tag on the posts for the rss feed so that you were only “feeding” the particular individual posts that you wanted to have posted to the FB wall, and not just your full site feed. In other words, create a tag and then use the rss feed for only that tag.
