Won't print from WordPress blog

I have 2 WordPress blogs; I can print from one (“TowardsUtopia”) but not the other (“decayetude”). This problem started within the last few weeks. It is not a browser issue as I can print anything from the other WP blog(“selection” or as many pages as I like). It is not a printer or printer connection issue as I can print from any other website. I have noticed this problem happened to people before. Please can a technical staff member help and resolve this issue. Thanks, Steve

Exactly how are your trying to print that blog? I do not see a print icon among the sharing icons at the bottom of the posts.

Thank u Kokkieh:) I have already subscribed.! I will try and be patient! this problem has never arisen before and it is definitely not the browser, or my computer to printer link/settings as EVERYTHING from the web including my OTHER WP blogs prints no problem. Can u ask the staff if they have introduced some change which is affecting ability to print. I notice quite a few threads on this, which have been closed without including a successful completion!Thanks for your support:)Steve

Thx Timethief but u don’t need a sharing ikon;like any webpage WordPress pages print from the print menu in the top(IE 11) taskbar. I have had the 2 blogs 3/4 years and “TowardsUtopia” prints in this way still; “Decayetude” stopped doing so within the last month!Thanks for your idea though:) Steve

The browser is not the issue; it prints from IE 11 on the other blog!; I did try ur idea of adding print under “sharing”. Nothing happened; it still won’t print from this blog, “Decayetude”. Thanks; I will wait for a staff member now:) Steve

The other blog still prints! I notice WordPress changed their ikon; I suspect they may have made other changes; it is odd, with same browser, one blog prints and other doesn’t, and that the one that works hasn’t “sharing” enabled and still prints!The sharing ikons are for sharing stuff with others, not individual printing! Anyway, as I said, will switch off now and wait for someone from the staff of WordPress:)Steve

Dark Wood is indeed a very old and retired theme. Can you tell me what happens when you try to print? Does it just print a lot of extra stuff, like your sidebar? Or does it fail to open a print window at all?
Also, exactly what page are you attempting to print? Just your blog’s front page? Or a specific post or page?

Thx Shawn; when I try to print , I get the print screen but press “print” and nothing happens, ie NOTHING at all is printed.I am attempting to print a specific post, the most recent one in “decayetude”.I could print pages from this blog until about a month ago; so, has it been retired in the last approximatively month (or two at the most). As u are confirming Dark Wood is retired, does that automatically disable the print option.? I have never encountered ANY web page on ANY site where printing is disabled; but I am grateful for any definite info from a staff member. I have IE 11 browser and , as I originally said, the other blog “TowardsUtopia” prints, as do all other webpages from EVERY source.
The blog that doesn’t print at all is decayetude.wordpress.com. Thanks for your help.:) Steve -

Have you tried simply switching to the Twenty Ten theme temporarily to see what happens when you do that and try printing from that blog? If you do that and you can print, then you will know it’s the retired theme that does not support all WordPress.com features that’s causing the issue. -
Thanks for the info! We don’t actively disable any features when a theme is retired. Mainly we stop maintaining them or adding new features, so slowly they can start to break. I’m not sure exactly when the theme was retired, but it shouldn’t have caused that error.
Have you tried printing other posts or pages on your site with the same results? Can you try printing one of the posts on the demo site?

Thx Shawn:) I am a bit confused by your reply! you say when a theme is retired ,you stop maintaining it “so slowly they{the features} can start to break”; then later then, “I am not sure exactly when the theme was retired, but it shoudnt have caused that{the non-printing } error”. this seems contradictory!
yes I just tried to print another post on the same blog; got print screen as usual then pressed print then nothing, as previously. I tried the demo site for dark Wood, from ur link, and I do not even get the print screen, never mind it printing what I highlight!Is this significant? Feel I am getting nowhere with this(: A shame because WordPress is, otherwise, such a great blog site.Do u think, like TimeThief suggests, I should temporarily switch to the 20/10 theme to see if the dark Wood is the problem.? I have looked at other threads on this subject and there is no satisfactory outcome or the thread is closed! Please help me with this. I know u are a professional company , with a good reputation and would want to help.Thanks :)Steve -

After reading this thread I did some testing with Internet Explorer 11 and I found that I could print from some sites but others I experienced the same thing you are describing.
I tried adding the sites that wouldn’t print to the Compatibility List in Internet Explorer and it seemed to allow me to print.
I don’t think this is a long term solution, but it might allow you to print what you need to at this point.
While you are on your site go to the Compatibility Settings View by clicking the little gear icon in the top right corner. Then click on Compatibility View Settings. The address of the site you’re on should be displayed. Click on Add.

Tried what u said, thanks,Sandy; it still won’t print, tho I added the the site to the compatability list; it has in fact caused an additional problem in that the highlighted text is now whited out!And my typing into the keyboard now has a delay in it.I am going to remove the site from the compatability list.I am afraid it is a WordPress issue not an IE(11) issue.
