Won’t publish or edit
-
I wrote my first post and when I hit the Publish button the screen went white… I hit refresh a couple of times which did nothing. I then hit the Back button and it returned me to the New Post screen which was blank. Fortunately when I went to the Manage Posts it had been saved. When I hit the Edit button, it brings me to the same white screen as when i tried to Publish.
I have tried to do new posts and the same thing happens. Any advice?

The first thing we need to establish is whether or not your are referring to a wordpress.com blog. We must do this because the largest tag in this wordpress.com forum is “wordpress.org”. That means that of all answers that volunteers give to these threads the most frequent one is to inform wordpress.orgbloggers that they are posting to the wrong forum.
(1) What is the url for your wordpress.com blog?
(2) Which browser and version of it are your using?
(3) Have you tried force refreshing your browser http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/force-refresh/
(4) Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache?
step 1. log out
step 2. clear your browser cookie
step 3. clear your browser cache/temporary internet files
step 4. close your browser
step 5. go back and test -

You might be wanting to check your internet connection settings. What browser are you using?

Hello. That is not a wordpress.com blog please go to the correct forum for help -> http://wordpress.org/support/

We use different software here at wordpress.com and as timethief suggests, you need to go to the wordpress.org forum to get your answer.

Unfortunately, all this typing has been a total waste of wordpress.com volunteer time. You are in the wrong forum. We run on different software here and cannot help you because your blog is not a wordpress.com .

I apologize for wasting your time. Perhaps that is a risk that you run volunteering for something that has so many new people signing up all the time. I realize that it can be frustrating so maybe in the future you should clarify whether or not the person is in the correct forum before posting a long and involved answer. Just a thought…

That being said, you do not need to apologize to us. We are aware that bloggers do not read the sticky posts at the head of the forum like “wordpress.com and wordpress.org – the difference”. We are also aware that because the wordpress.com forums and wordpress.org forums are very similar in appearance which confuses bloggers. We also accept the fact that we will be spending our time redirecting bloggers to the correct forum. This is why I typed the opening above “The first thing we need to establish is whether or not your are referring to a wordpress.com blog …”
I wish you well. Happy blogging. :)

It’s all good – I really do appreciate the help. It’s also a lesson for me to pay more attention to the sticky posts. Funny thing is, I read your first post and still had no clue there was a difference. I assumed (incorrectly) that I was a WordPress.com.

I’m glad you took note of the questions we asked because when you go to the other forum they will need to know these things in order to help you:
(1) the url for your blog that is your FULL blog address (not the name, the real address that begins http:// )
(2) your browser
(3) your browser version
(4) whether you have tried force reloading of your browser or not
(5) whether or not you have tried clearing your cookies and cache
(4) and a very good description of the exact problemBeing asked if you have force refreshed your browser is standard practice and depending on your operating system all you need to do to accomplish such a thing is the following key combination:
* Windows:ctrl + F5
* Mac:apple+r
* Linux:f5Being asked if you have cleared your cookies and cache is also standard practice
step 1. log out
step 2. clear your browser cookie
step 3. clear your browser cache/temporary internet files
step 4. close your browser
step 5. go back and testLearning how to use wordpress technology is a learning curve for sure and you have already passed the first curve.
Happy blogging! :)
