Woo commerce

Have read alot about this plugin and it should be free to use etc.
BUT WordPress wants to charge me USD 300/year just for using this tool, why??

My webshop sells for not more than USD 50 a year so this option is stealing from me. Recently I had Prestashop that s really free to use. However way too much problems and unable to login to admin module.

Woo commerce is the same thing as Prestashop as far as I can see. But how is it possible that WordPress.com want to steal USD 300/year for this selling tool?

I have my own website where I want to use this shop but not for 300 USD a year. That is not possible.
How do I use woo commerce for free instead on my own website without being robbed from WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

That blog you just provided the link to is a free website on WordPress.com and for WordPress.com hosted websites, you have to have the Business plan to use the WooCommerce plugin or any plugin. WooCommerce remains free to use but you pay for the plan.

Alternatively, you can host your own WordPress and not pay the $300, but you are going to pay for hosting wherever you end up getting the service. Please note the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. It will help you understand where the payments come in, etc. You can read about that here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

In brief, there is no way to use WooCommerce without paying for a plan on WordPress.com or hosting service if you end up using WordPress.org.

  • Hi there!

Let me clarify this a bit.

WordPress.com is a shared environment, and we do not allow installing plugins or third-party themes for security reasons. Business sites undergo a series of structural changes to allow that, and that is why you’d need Business plan to install any plugin.

This is, of course, not the only perk of Business plan. It will provide everything included in the Personal and Premium plans, plus the ability to use SEO and analytic tools; manage automated back-ups and options for an activity rewind. It also comes with full live chat support 24/7 and an increased maximum of 200 GB for media storage.
You can find information about all the features here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/business-plan/.

As @therefoiam mentioned above, you can also install WooCommerce on a WordPress site hosted elsewhere. If you’d like to consider that, here are some hosts recommended by WooCommerce directly:

    https://woocommerce.com/hosting-solutions/.

    I hope that helps :)
