Woo Commerce

I am experimenting with building a ecommerce website on WordPress and trying to add Woo Commerce Plugin. My understanding is Woo Commerce core is a free opensource platform. However, when I try to add Woo Commerce in Word press, the system directs me to a subscription page where the minimum plan is $48/yr. Is there a free Woo Commerce plan available to experiment with?

  • Hello there,

I think there’s some confusion happening here, so I’ll do my best to clear things up.

There are two types of WordPress, WordPress.com, and self-hosted WordPress.

Self-hosted WordPress, is where you install the free open source software on a hosting provider like GoDaddy or Bluehost – and this is where you can indeed use WooCommerce for free.

On WordPress.com – WooCommerce is free to use like on self-hosted WordPress, but in order to install it, the site would need to be on the business plan.

    I hope this helps.
