Woo Commerce and WP Mail won;t talk to Yahoo or GMail
-
I am paying for a Pro WP plan and being able to email myself and the client from WooCommerce seems essential functionality.
The Free WP Mail SMTP Lite will not connect to either Yahoo or Gmail. I have tried repeatedly following the stated method and helped by a more experienced user. Cryptic error messages after several attempts but the latest implies there were too many failed attempts.
WP Mail SMTP says it will be easier if I pay $99 dollars a year… which I am reluctant to do, particularly as I don’t have faith it will.

Hi there! I’ll be happy to assist with this 🙂
Something to keep in mind is that since this is a third-party plugin, our support is limited as we aren’t the initial developers and wouldn’t want to give you any incorrect information. If you are having trouble with this particular plugin, you would need to keep working with the developers or try a different plugin solution.
I was able to find specific documentation from them on how to properly set up
Gmailhere which you may find helpful. We also have documentation here on things to check before setting up an SMTP plugin.Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns and we will be more than happy to assist you! 🙂

Thank you Darin
This is the plugin you install to support Woocommerce, a major selling point of your Pro hosting plan, and they do not support the free version, so that’s not entirely satisfactory, is it?
I have used their how to guide.
However, it may be that I need to use a domain specific email, so I will look into this asnd see what happens.

I seem to have got this working with a paid domain email, as cheaper than upgrading WP Mail STMP. But not happy at how roundabout and complex this was.

Hi there!
I’m happy to see things are working for you once more!
SMTP plugins aren’t built to support the WooCommerce functionality necessarily, however, they can be used if you’d like to bypass the server when handling email delivery.
I agree they are not the easiest plugins to configure, but once you’re done and things are working, you can start enjoying the platform and focus on the things that matter the most to you.
I’m going to mark this as solved for now, but feel ree to reach out again if you have further questions!
