Hi,
I just purchased premium plan for my new wordpress website (teachingresourcessolutions.com), wishing to turn it into an online shop. I was told that woocommerce is compatible with wordpress however I coudlnt find ‘add new’ button to my plugin. Does that mean that I cant add woocommerce plugin to my website?
Please let me know what i can do to turn my website into an online shop.

Hey there,
Does that mean that I cant add woocommerce plugin to my website?
There currently is no ecommerce solution available for sites on WordPressdotcom. One is being developed but there is no timeline for its implimentation. It may or may not be relevant for the future, but until the former ecommerce solutions were retired, they were only available for users at the Business Plan level.
In general, WordPressdotcom users have many plugins built into the platform, but cannot install their own 3rd party plugins. More on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
If this is a deal-breaker for you, you may want to consider hosting your own standalone install of the WP software.
Here’s some info that may help you decide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thank you so much for your advice. It is very informative.
From what I understand, does it mean that i can only install woocommerce on wordpress.org rather than wordpress.com? Is it possible that I ask them to change my domain name to .org instead of .com? Or I have to buy a new domain name? -
Hi again, you don’t need to buy a new domain and if you are planning on using this one do not cancel it in order to buy it somewhere else. That is a world of pain.
Yes, you are correct that if you need to use WooCommerce you will need to set up your site using a standalone WordPress install (often referred to as WordPress.org) on a 3rd party hosting service, like BlueHost, DreamHost, GoDaddy, HostGator and the like. Once you’ve set up that hosting, you can configure your domain to point to that hosting service, even though you bought the domain from WordPressdotcom.
If you’ve made your decision to look for other hosting so you can use WooCommerce, you likely will want a refund for the rest of the Premium plan (but KEEP the domain). If so, you can add the MODLOOK tag to this forum thread in the Tags section for Staff assistance with that refund.

Hi,
I’m facing the same problem. I’ve just bought a premium plan and I wanted to add WooCommerce plugin. If I understand I only can add this plugin on a 3rd party hosting service.
So I’d like to cancel my subscription to the premium plan but I want to keep the domain name I created with it. How can I do ?
Best regards -
Hi there. message WordPress’ ‘Happiness Engineer’ at https://wordpress.com/help , and they will refund you your premium plan and keep your domain for you.
Good luck.
