WooCommerce Translation doesn’t work?
-
Hi everyone, sorry for the long message, but I need some advice please!
I’m very new to WooCommerce (my first WC project). My client requested the entire website and shopping cart flow (WooCommerce) must all be in Afrikaans.
I use Elementor Pro (and WP v. 5.4.2) with the Kadence Theme (also tried Astra theme) on my website, so building the rest of the website in Afrikaans is fine, only the WooCommerce part I’m just not able to figure out?
Unfortunately I don’t know code either, but I’m willing to try and edit code if someone can point me in the right direction?
I did try the Loco plugin (with Afr. language pack), manually translated most of the text strings used on the standard WooCommerce Checkout page, but it made no difference at all to any of the page text content? It translates the actual program, but it doesn’t translate anything on the page (Billing information, Apply, Add to cart, …etc.)? It shows these strings are translated according to Loco?
Then I downloaded the Afrikaans language pack (.mo and .po files) from the WooCommerce Localization site, renamed the files to woocommerce-af_ZA.mo and .po (as per instructions on the WooCommerce local page) and added it to the site’s wp-content/languages/plugins folder where the elementor-en_ZA.mo and woocommerce-en_ZA.mo files are. I then went back into my site, changed the site language to Afrikaans, opened the shop page in preview, but it’s still exactly the same? I deleted all WC std pages, recreated them, but still all English?
Please tell me where I’m going wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! These forums are for the site hosted here at WordPress.com, so I won’t be able to help much with this, but I may be able to point you in the right direction.
Have you read this?
https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-localization/Going forward, you might also ask over at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce — my guess is someone’s already done something similar, so you might even be able to search there to find the answers and resources you need.
Hoping it helps!
