WooCommerce WordPress account confusion
-
Hello, we have a site built by web developers – on WordPress with a recently-added WooCommerce site. The developer asked me to create a WooCommerce account for ourselves so they could transfer the licence for purchased plugins over to us. However, by creating an account on the WooCommerce site, I have now created this entirely new WordPress account attached to our email address, which I did not want to do. Two questions, please:
Can I just delete this account? As far as I can tell it’s not connected to our actual site at all – is that right?
How should I have done this?
Many thanks

Hello there Kate,
Can you please share the URL of the website? Thank you.
It could be that your website is using the open source WordPress.org platform that is different from WordPress.com. If this is the case then you must create a WordPress.com in order to have a WooCommerce account. To learn about the difference between the two you can read this article:

Sorry to post again but I think I’m understanding more now. So, if I need this wordpress.com account in order to have the WooCommerce account – can I just have it so I can access what I need in WooCommerce, but not do anything with it?
-
Yes you can have it just so you can manage your WooCommerce plugin :D. This account has no connection with your self hosted site at all.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your taking time to answer – I would not have got there on my own any time soon.

It is my pleasure. For future reference though, if you ever need help with WooCommerce again, you can use their support channels and you will get more adequate and faster help:
