Word Ads with Premium/Business Plan
-
Hi, I have just set up a blog, first one I have ever done. I have had 572 views in the first two days and 140 visitors. I haven’t really marketed just friends and word of mouth. I feel I can grow it significantly. I do want to ask for donations and it has to be free. The question is can a website of this nature (Poker Coaching/Training) gain enough views to make a profit from the ads after the cost of the Premium or Business plan is taken into consideration. How much can I expect from this type of venture, assuming I can get it to say 5,000 views a month and 1,000 visitors/month? Would it at least pay for itself? Many thanks in advance, the website is https://stayorgopoker.home.blog/ Cheers, Graham Carter (Poker Coach)

Hi sorry when I said, I do want to ask for donations, that was a typo, I meant I DON’T want to ask for donations. Many thanks.

Hi there Graham!
Ad revenue is generated by how much advertisers decide to bid on your site each month. It works a bit like the stock market.
Advertising rates fluctuate constantly so there’s really no way of predicting how much you’ll be able to gain, it will depend on the following factors:– The amount of traffic.
– Where the majority of the traffic is coming from. (North American ad placements currently pay out at a much greater level than ads from other regions.)
– How much advertisers value your users based on their cookies.
– How many visitors are using ad blockers.
– The actual ads that are displayed.Let me know if you need more information about this.

Hi fresatomica. Many thanks for the feedback. I guess what I was after was just an idea if I were to get 5,000 views a month and 1,000 visitors, would I at least break even? I understand what you are saying regarding all the other factors. Most of the traffic would be from the UK. I wouldn’t hold you to anything but just an educated guess as to whether I would at least “break even” with the sort of numbers I am talking about. If you had to have a guess, what would you say? (I won;t hold you to it lol) If that is not enough to break even, what sort of numbers would be? Thanks again, apprecaite it! Graham

It’s really difficult to even make a guess because, unless you have the same exact number of visitors from the same countries every single month and advertisers are valuing those visitors equally every month, you’ll never be able to calculate a consistent rate just by earnings vs. impression totals.
What you can earn vary greatly per site and is influenced by the factors I mentioned before.
The content of your posts and pages can also affect which advertisers want to advertise and how much they will pay to advertise on your site. Advertisers generally prefer to place ads on family-friendly content.
If you’re doubting if to upgrade, remember that we have a 30 days refund policy on any plan (and 96h on a custom domain if you register one) so you can upgrade and see how it goes.
Of course, one month is not that much to see ads earnings but you can observe the daily ads stats and get the idea of how it can work out for you.I hope that helps :)
