Word Fence is only available with an upgrade?

    Everyone is telling me to use wordfence, and I probably should. But, it seems that like that in order to use it online, I need to get a plan I can’t really afford at the moment. Is there still a way for me to get the free version of wordfence without having to shell out extra cash for it?

    The advantage of having a WordPress.com site is that your sites is well-protected. WordPress.com monitors potentially harmful activity to ensure there is no unauthorized access to your content.

    If you still want to install your own plugin, you will need to upgrade to the Business plan. https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

    The other alternative is to create a self-hosted WordPress site. With a self-hosted site, you have control over what plugins and themes you want to install. The following support document explains the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
