word press as a web hosting platform

    Hi, I am writing to see if I can use wordpress to build a web site but want to use my own url rather than wordpress.com
    If this is possible then I can move forward. I am working on an older Mac power PC 10.4.11 so it has been hard to find the right software that is supported for my computer. Thanks for any help with this. Phyllis

    You can use a WP blog with your own URL. By going to a site like GoDaddy and purchasing a domain, you can have it hosted on WP and the domain mapped. This DOES cost extra, however. Also, if you will be doing major edits, you will need to purchase the CSS Upgrade. I do all of this and spend a little over $120 a year. Be very aware, keeping your blog in such a manner is expensive.

    Sure, you can map a domain to your blog here at WordPress.com so that instead of yoursite.wordpress.com it appears as yoursite.com.
