Word Press blog breaking copyright and trade marks

  • Unknown's avatar

    HI,

A blog using your platform has recently been launched by two students and someone who should know better. It’s title breaks copyright and a registered trade mark. It’s content is relevant to our business and could only be perceived as being linked to us by our global clientele. It thus directly threatens our business and must be confronted and shut down..

Please tell me to whom in your hierarchy I need to address this issue in order to get the Blog taken down.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

First, as background, please make sure you’ve read this article regarding the distinctions between WordPress.com and WordPress.org instances:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Now, what is the URL of the blog in question?

If the blog is at WordPress.com:
Please follow the instructions on this page to submit a DMCA notice identifying yourself as the copyright holder. Make sure you include the URLs of specific infringing pages or files:

Digital Millennium Copyright Act Notice (retired)

If the blog is external (a WordPress.org instance):
You’ll need to contact that website’s hosting provider to pursue your claim.

Here are the appropriate steps that you may take to file a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice, should you determine that any of your content has been stolen or used in an unauthorized manner:

    HI,

It’s WordPress.com, that;s why I contacted WordPress.com. I am aware of the differences you refer to.

The whole site infringes becasue its title is protected by intellectual property rights to prevent others passing themelves off as us.

Thanks for your reply and I hope your link suffices.

@walki12, From what I’ve seen in three years here, WP takes copyright violations and such very seriously. If their is a violation, they will deal with it.

I have bee here 4 years and that’s what I have observed also.

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay, thanks again. I’ve posted a comment on their Blog and look forward to their mediator taking action!

I will deal with the matter in the morning (UK time. It’s 1am here and sleep calls). I will certainly reply with all the information you need and as has been said it is definitely something we take seriously.

Are they saying negative things about your company or exposing personal information?
