Word press import from backup to new account

Hi,
I recently acquired a backup of my site from my former hosting provider so I may transfer it to my wordpress account so I can edit & host the site. I am familar with website design, but first time using wordpress so anything helps. I have the backup, the contains a .sql file, underneath it has a config.php file, and .htaccess along with wordpress content. I see all my files under wordpress themes so i know its all there. I tried using the wordpress importer with the .zip and unzipped version of the file with no success as it cant find the .xml file (Which i don’t see anywhere in these files). Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to get this site imported?

Hey Jake, unfortunately we aren’t able to handle a cPanel backup at this point, but if you have a Business Plan we might be able to pull in the files another way.
To clarify, though, are you planning on hosting here with our Business Plan?

So, I am not trying to backup the site at all. I am just trying to get it uploaded from a export of the files I received. I currently am using the free version until I can find out what is needed in order to make this happen. Preferably I would like to go with the premium plan, I need assistance finding out how to get these uploaded as word press importer says it cant upload the files due to no xml file being found.

I believe that is what @supernovia is saying – we cannot import the backup contents you received via cPanel without sFTP access which is only available via the Business Plan:

If you have a .xml file, you will be able to import your content over. I would see if your former host can possibly assist you with generating a .xml file for your site.
