Word Press Looks Different
-
All the tutorials I was going to use have a different looking wordpress dashboard with a lot more choices and different options that I can’t find on my version so now the tutorials can’t help me build a site. Why are they different than mine. They all are using the free wordpress. Here’s an example

There are two different kinds of WordPress.
One version is running here on WordPress.com where all the tech stuff is handled for you. The upside is they make it as easy as possible to set up and begin blogging. The downside is there are restrictions on what you can do. For example you can’t install plugins or buy a theme somewhere else and install it here.
With the other WordPress (which the tutorial was using) you have complete freedom to do whatever you want with your site. However, it’s a bit more work to set up because you have to register a domain, buy hosting, install plugins and so on. It’s based on the free software from WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/
