    Hi there,

    WordPress is the free, open source software made by the community on WordPress.org. That software integrates with the Gravatar service, but it’s something that needs to be enabled by the owner of each individual site, and apart from that there’s no affiliation between Gravatar and the WordPress software.

    The forum you’re posting to now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. The company that owns WordPress.com also owns the Gravatar service, and a WordPress.com username account and a Gravatar profile are exactly the same thing. In other words, if you create a new WordPress.com account, that automatically creates a corresponding Gravatar profile, and vice versa.
