this is the worst blogging service, tool whatever you want to call it. I have tried it in the past and have tried it again today and it still sucks, why so many users claim that it is so wonderful and innovative remains a mystery to me and all I can say is that they are probably lying and paid by word press. good bye and good riddance to word press
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I use it and I like it, and am not paid anything bt WordPress to say this. If you don’t like it go and use something else.

This is an example of the most unhelpful feedback one human being can give to another. As a coach I spend my life helping human beings communicate more effectively with each other – to save emotions, effort and smooth our shared learning.
By all means be angry. By all means be hacked off. And own your feedback. The virtual world doesn’t give any of us the right to do what we wouldn’t do face to face – or it ought not to! So. . . .
WordPress sucks – how? What’s not working for you? What have you tried to sort it out? There are many wonderful people who use these forums to offer help and support to others in difficulty. They do it for free. They do it to contribute to greater learning. They do it as part of an amazing tribe of talented and helpful individuals. They believe in something greater than themselves. Honour and respect to all who make this happen.
As to WordPress – many of us do claim that it’s wonderful, innovative and easy to use. Why would we lie? What’s in it for us? We’re certainly NOT paid to say it.

My own blog is hosted on WordPress and I can use it. But if you asked me to change my design I have no idea where to start. I have one blog hosted with WordPress selfhosted and another one with WordPress.com. I also have one with blogger and thats not really my blog – I’m an admin on my friends blog as she’s a beginning and needed help

My own blog is hosted on WordPress and I can use it. But if you asked me to change my design I have no idea where to start.
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs. We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under > Dashboard > Appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from WordPress.ORG.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/There are other ways of customizing your theme such as choosing one of the many themes that allow for a custom image header and/or using text widgets in your sidebar.

Sorry about the typos. I’m visually challenged.
Edit: “how to become a better blogger, how to build a better blog, and effective blog promotion.”

I like wordpress which is why I use it, both for myself and also for building sites for clients. Most find it quite intuitive and can get the hang of it in a very short period of time.
But it isn’t for everyone, which is why there is blogger, moveable type, type pad and tumblr.
If wordpress isn’t your cup of tea, then simply move on.
