word verification for comments?

  Is it possible to require people to do an ‘image test’ before posting a comment?

  That would require access to the comment.php file. This is not allowed for security reasons, among others.

  There’s also a question if the ‘image test’ is legal here in the States as it may be a violation of the ADA.

  Akismet provides adequate spam protection for most wordpress.com blogs. If it’s not working for you, try switching comment moderation on or making it so that only registered users can comment.
