Word Wrap not wrapping in Text Widget

I’m playing around with a text widget–making an “elevator” thingy … the text was too small, so I looked around to see how to make it larger. I accomplished that, but in the process, the words are splitting on each line. It is the verbiage directly below my picture in the sidebar …
    Thanks!

This is the html I have in the widget …

<pre style=”font-family:ptserif;font-size:16px;”>I’m a wife and mom with three teenagers–desperately needing lots of encouragement from the Lord. <i>Sweeter Than Honey</i> is a blog that is focused on sharing His encouragement with others.
    2 Corinthians 1:3-4

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Remove the words “that is” in front of “a blog” and your problem is solved.

I did that … and it is definitely good editing … but as I expand and shrink the width of the window, I still have the problem. :/

Hmm. WP.com staff definitely play with the hyphenation function. Looks like right now they’ve turned it off. You could put it in the breaking word but you’re right; on a different device the paragraph will break in a different place. I’m not sure how to solve this one.

I decided to ditch trying to do it in the widget box … I’m changing the font for my sidebar globally in CSS.
