Word wrapping and Opera 9.0

Since I upgraded to Opera 9.0 a few days back I’ve been noticing that while typing posts it seems to randomly choose which lines should be word wrapped and which should not. It’s the most annoying thing ever and I can’t do anything about it. Has anybody else encountered this issue or is this just my problem?

Haven’t seen it, but I haven’t updated to Opera 9 yet.
Nothing about it on the Opera site?

Had the same problem with my blog a few times where the lines simply wordwrap at the stranges places but got around it by rewriting stuff in a different way.
Going to see if I can re-create it later to have an example but dont think it shows wrong since know it looked strange at one point for me but a friend of mine didnt notice any error when she proof-read a post.

I’m just using the editor provided with wordpress, nothing fancy. Everything worked fine in Internet Explorer this morning but I’ve been using Opera for the last few years and IE is simply a step back. I searched the Opera forums and I didn’t find anything. It’s another blogger describing the same issue. Unlike Thalswe I haven’t been able to get around it by rewriting the text. And when a line has lost the word wrapping the words just continue right off to the side and disappear behind the sidebar.

This is what I typed while creating the page (I copied it from the page entry box). You can compare it to what you actually see:
This is a test to see if I can re-create the word wrapping bug. First step, write some text then click Save and Continue Editing. This next step is where I try to add to the saved text and bingo, no word wrapping. By now the text has disappeared off behind the sidebar. I’ll save and continue editing once more. Text here comes after the second save. And it suddenly seems to be working correctly again. I did nothing special this time.
Guess I’ll have to switch back to IE for awhile.

WP comes with two editors. Does the editor look like the one in this FAQ or does it have words for buttons?
It’s strange as when I look at the source code, I don’t see any HTML break in the text between Continue and editing.
Actually I just dupped it rather badly using Netscape 7.2.
My money is on you’re using the rich text editor and it’s a bug with that. I did try it with the text you listed above and went back and bolded the four words you did but that came out fine. Making the post using the normal text editor came out fine using cut and paste from your post.
Workaround: Become one of the many who have turned off TinyMCE. :)
Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile -> Uncheck the box at the bottom of the page and save.
I’ll send in a feedback and point this out to staff.

Podz says that he thinks it’s an issue with the editor as well.
Not a whole lot that can be done until the developers of TinyMCE work on the issue I’m afraid.

Yeah it’s the editor in the FAQ. I turned off TinyMCE and everything is working perfectly. Thanks guys.

We have made the switch from IE7 to Opera 9 – it’s so much better in many respects. We have unfortunatly found the same problem with our rich text editor that Noel described. It is such a frustrating bug.
Would be great to get it fixed.
