Hey,

I currently run my blog http://zacksbrain.wordpress.com/ and I am interested in monetizing options. I am considering using WordAds but I am not sure how it compares to adsense etc. I create new cartoons everyday and expect the site to blow up pretty soon… a few thousand views a day is expected. How profitable would WordAds be for me? Would you not allow me to join if i had a dirty cartoon every now and then? Generally, my cartoons use clean humor.

The comparison to all other advertising is irrelevant because WordAds is the only advertising allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

Yea, but I mean if I switched to self hosting, what’s the comparison? I’d rather stay with wordpress.com

You will make more advertising income by setting up your own self hosted WordPress.org install. There’s not doubt about that.

WordAds claims that if offers much better rates than adsense I thought.

The WordAds income split is 50 – 50 between WordPress.com and the blogger and I am 100% sure of what I said above. Moreover, Google Adsense is not the best advertising option one can make. If you want to discuss advertising income go to the top right hand corner of this page http://wordpress.org/support/ and register a WordPress.org username account so your can post to their support forums. You are off on a tangent. You can purchase upgrades if you wish but none of those upgrades change anything stated about advertising at all. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

The only bloggers who can run their own advertising here are VIP hosted and I’m sure you are nowhere near being in that league

Just to follow up on this – Zack you can apply at any time to : http://wordads.co/signup/ – once your site is accepted you can see for yourself what your earnings might be like. You can leave the program at any time, as well.

WordAds is currently the only advertising program available on WordPress.com for site owners.
