WordAds are becoming Evil
-
Today I had my first WordAd that CAPTURED my screen. What I mean is it actually “forcefully” pushed me to an external website. I did not get the name of the website because I quickly closed it, but if these are the types of Ads you are going to allow I will cut off the account. I am disappointed though as I thought WordAds was a great idea. You have allowed people to place “flashing Ads” that are driving my readers crazy. Is it worth a few extra dollars a month? Perhaps not. I hope this can be fixed. -OM

We don’t deal with any WordAds issues on these support forums. Please note that you can always contact the WordAds team directly via http://wordads.co/contact/

We take these things very seriously, but cannot look into it if we don’t know what the ad was.
Please keep an eye on this for us and if you see the ad again, please try to capture a screenshot, or if that’s not possible, let us know the exact product in the ad including any descriptions you can provide that will help us pinpoint which ad it is.

Be aware that ads can appear to you as the result of a browser add-on or toolbar or downloading anything that has adware embedded into it.
All WordPress.com placed ads are easy to identify as this link accompanies them http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
Any other ads you see are not placed on the blog by WordPress.com. They are coming from a browser extension or toolbar. These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads: http://www.littletechiethings.com/2012/06/how-to-remove-ads-not-by-this-site.html http://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/05/14/ads-on-wikipedia-your-computer-infected-malware/ http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/
If you use the information at the sites I linked to and still see ads please post screenshot http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ Upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it. Then type modlook into the sidebar.

Thanks Timethief, I do appreciate the additional info. I will document and record the next Ads I see. I’ll also take a look at those info links. -OM
