WordAds CPM Fluctuations

So my site uses WordAds and its CPM has always been about .65. However, in the month of January, my ad impressions increased by five times as many but my earnings only doubled from the previous month. Why did my CPM go down so much?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Generally, you’re paid per impression (when the ad is seen by a visitor), not by click. That means the more visits you get, and the more each visitor uses your site, the more you’ll earn.

What you earn can vary greatly per site, depending on the following factors:

      The amount of traffic.
Where the majority of the traffic is coming from. (North American ad placements currently pay out at a much greater level than ads from other regions.)
How many visitors are using ad blockers.
The actual ads that are displayed.

    FAQ

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Hi, I believe you wont get the exact answer for CPM on forum, as it’s like you mentioned – fluctuating, but I myself experienced the same as you, my CPM in January is way lower than expected. If you are in need of some more detail dicuss, I will happy to provide. :)

  • Hi there,

We don’t provide CPM numbers. Only total number of ads served along with the total earnings for the month.

The total earnings per ad varies from month to month. Advertising rates fluctuate constantly as the online ads system is similar to the stock market where advertisers bid in real time. Additionally rates are vastly different depending on the country the viewer is visiting from.

Unless you have the same exact number of visitors from the same countries every single month, you’ll never be able to calculate a consistent rate just by Earnings vs. Impression totals.
