Wordads help

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
We received an offer from an advertising agency, to put some pop-under ads in our blog, but then we realize it´s not possible in wordpress.com.
So we dig into wordads, and we have our own domain, no ads widget bought and have this month near 25000 views.
    So we apply to it.
    But the answer was:
“Our advertising partners have minimum traffic requirements, and when your site traffic meets these requirements, we’ll be in touch.”
Our primary geotarget are Portugal (where we are from), then Brazil and United Kingdom.
    We write in portuguese language.
    Our blog is : olhosnabola.com

Can anyone know why we are not accepted?

    Thanks in advance

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • It’s an auto-response, letting you know we do have a minimum requirement, and that we’ll be in touch when you meet it.

You just applied 17 hours ago, so no one had a chance to review your application yet.

With regards to your application, you did reach our minimum, so I have pushed that through for approval, and you can now finish setting it up via Settings -> WordAds in your blog’s Dashboard.

Hi macmam thanks for the help.
We tried the wordads, but the ad companies and images are totally decontextualized with the concept of our “stadium”. Can you help us with that?
We are scared that it will dissatisfy our readers.

    Regards

  • A lot of bloggers want to either pick the ads or only have contextually relevant ads. I’m afraid, however, that online advertising today doesn’t work that way. WordPress.com is a top 10 global site and for the most part we don’t get to pick ads, rather the advertisers pick us. We do have a process where we pick ad partners and we have screened out a number whose quality standards are not up to our standards and we can block ads explicitly featuring sex, violence, and drugs, but currently it’s not possible for us to give each blogger the ability to pick ads or to run only contextually relevant ads.

    Hi again macmanx,
Sorry for bother but can you give me an idea of what we can get per month?
Like i said our 90% views are from Portugal if we have 30000 views per month with just the wordas in the bottom of the articles.

I have a similar number of views, with three times the number of ads displayed, and I made $20 last month.

  • Generally, we are paid for impression, not by click. That means the more visits you get, and the more each visitor uses your site, the more you will earn.

Forecasting revenues in online advertising for bloggers is complex and can vary greatly per blog depending on the amount of traffic, where the majority of the traffic is coming from, how many are using ad blockers, the actual ads that are displayed, etc.

North American ad placements currently pay-out at a much greater level than international ads. We are negotiating deals with some partners, particularly in Europe that will see higher rates there but generally we are not compensated well for traffic in Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

    Thanks macmanx
We are definetly changing for wordpress org because we had good ad offers from local companies. Can you indicate us help with the whole process of .org?

For WP.org you can check their online forums, or purchase the Guided Transfer upgrade for $100 which moves your Wp.com site over to a paid web host, or you can hire a consultant.

FYI more than 80% of my readers are North American, so that’s about the top payout you can expect for 1000 views a day.

  • If you’re interested, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/

Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wp.com/hosting/

Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
    http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
    http://wordpress.org/support/
    http://codex.wordpress.org/

We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com

  • Just adding since this is public, Raincoaster, you have *a lot* of ad blockers in your audience, I assume because of the subject matter of your blog.

Your earnings are atypically low for traffic of that size.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. Makes sense.

  • You’re welcome! :)

When your impressions are that far below your views, it’s almost always ad blockers.
