WordAds hijacks user scrollbar

    Hi guys,

Recently, I enabled WordAds on my site, as the traffic volume reached a point at which monetization made since (maybe I can recover the costs of Premium…). So, look what happens on this page when ads are enabled : https://foxdeploy.com/2015/04/16/part-ii-deploying-powershell-guis-in-minutes-using-visual-studio/

Open it in Chrome and then try to scroll down…notice how choppy the scrolling is? It’s unacceptable. Even worse, when the FLASH PLAYER video starts auto playing, the JavaScript hijacks user scrolling and SCROLLS THE WINDOW DOWN TO THE AD.

This is absolutely abhorrent behavior from an advertiser.

    How can I control this?

As an owner of a blog with good traffic in a highly-valued niche, I need a way to control which advertisers are displayed on my site, and be able to fire one with bad behavior. My readers are tech decision makers, they shouldn’t see pharma ads, it’s embarrassing.

I also need to be able to specify which kinds of content are allowed on my site. Without this control, WordAds isn’t going to be a viable option for me.

But the immediate need is that we immediately need to remove the scroll hijack behavior. I’ve never seen a site anywhere on the web scroll me past content and show an ad. To see it on my own site disgusts me.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello –

I’m also in Chrome but I do not experience what you’ve described here. Which version are you running? What operating system? Do you have any browser extensions enabled?
