Hey there!
To delete or rename a Category, simply go to Posts –> Category to view all categories. Move your mouse over a category and a set of options will appear, allowing you to edit, quick-edit, or delete that category.
To rename a category, find the category you would like to rename and click on Quick Edit. Rename the category and click on Update Category.
Clicking on Delete will delete that category.
But remember; when a category is deleted, all posts that were only in that category will be assigned to the default category. If a post was also in other categories it will remain untouched.

Well, when I go to ”posts” the only buttons I can click are my publications and my latest drafts. Could you show me through screenshots? Thanks!!

It’s evidently not possible to edit or delete categories in within the My Site interface. It may be done in the older wp-admin interface. See the Managing Categories in WP Admin section of the Categories support page.
