WordPress 3.1.3 'remove category' breaks post update/publish

    I’ve tried a few plugins to remove ‘category’ from my site’s URL. Inevitably after a few minutes I lose the ability to change/update/publish posts. I just end up on a “not found” (404?) page, which comes up under //www.domainhere.com/wp-admin/post.php

    I’ve read in a bunch of places that people have been having problems with mod_security. I’ve even read in at least one place where someone mentions specifically having to edit mod_security to specifically fix an issue with their ‘remove category’ solution in WP 3.* as well.

    Anyway, I’m hosted with MidPhase. I open a support ticket and days later I get no updates. All I ever got was the autoresponse. I have no access to mod security myself. I’ll most likely be trying BlueHost soon simply because I absoluetely will not tolerate being ignored. Thats beside the point.

    Right now I just need to accompish removing “category” from the URL of my site anywhere & everywhere, WITHOUT breaking the ability to update posts and what not .. and preferably without having to get my MidPhase hosting support involved, as apparently they’re totally worthless.

    I’ve also tried redirection plugins which claim to automatically do this, that and the other thing but no dice.. so.. I’m kinda bummed right now.

    Anyone know what I might be able to do? Oh, and I’m not a programmer. Most I do with the code is copy/paste. Trial and error stuff. Or maybe search for a color hex value and change it. That’s about it.

    If you are using Plug-in’s then you need to take the friendly supportbot’s advice and make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

    Plug-in’s are not allowed here for security reasons.
