WordPress 3rd Party Says ‘Call WordPress’

  • Unknown's avatar

When I bought this domain in 2015 via wordpress they used a 3rd party registrar. Totally unresponsive, every year I go through this. No notifications of expiration, then when I try to renew they put me through hoops. Now they say talk to WordPress. Of course there is no way to contact anyone at WordPress.

So what do I do? Just let it expire and buy a new domain name for a site with great traffic and history, and just fire WordPress entirely? There is zero response in ‘help’ email etc. Thanks Kevin

First things first: what is the URL of the site you are talking about? I see you had the same problem in 2020, https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/website-down-253/

Yes, I see the last thread. The big problem is that this is an annual issue, and I “cleaned up” the contacts etc last time. I don’t have access to the email account used perhaps, etc. I don’t know.

I can’t log into the account associated with http://www.talkingbiotechpodcast.com I’ve tried every username. All of my other WP accounts work great (I have 3 others).

I’ll keep trying, but I wish there was just an easy way to renew a domain name !

Hello, Looking at that thread, the correct account is mentioned there, vernblazek where you also logged in with that account and apparently updated the email address.

So first things first, log out of this account you are using to post to our community forums, and then log back in with the correct account mentioned above.

Let us know how that goes.

Yes, I used the account name you specified. Passwords would not work. So I tried to recover them. I don’t get a notice in any of my email accounts. The one associated with that name is long gone– inactivated to clean up all of my accounts. So now I still can’t renew the domain name. It’s horrible becuase it is a popular, sponsored podcast. At this point I’m ready to just blow it off, except for someone will buy it and fill it with pornography and other stuff, with my name all over it. There are people that hate that I do a science podcast on vaccines, biotech, etc. It happened before. So I need to renew this domain.

OKAY, I was able to log into the right account using that UN and SMS.

Now where do I find anywhere to renew a domain name on Wild West Domains? I don’t see any billing etc, or any mention of the domain.

OKAY OKAY… real progress. I can log into all associated accounts and emails. There is a “renew” option for the domain in the email, I click it, I sign into the WordPress site. All is good.

    “No items in cart”

There is nowhere to renew this. I can see under “purchases” that this happens every year about this time.

Is there any way to save this? I have to buy it from WordPress, but there seems to be no mechanism to do it. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

I do not see any upgrades under your @kevinfolta WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/.

Is it possible you made your purchase under a different login? I can confirm that talkingbiotechpodcast.com is registered at WordPress.com but is under a different account and not your @kevinfolta login.

If you do not recall how to log in to your other account you can fill out the form here to get assistance from our Account Recovery team: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Also I see that separately someone else emailed us about talkingbiotechpodcast.com, possibly this is you communicating with us through your other account? If so you may wish to check your inboxes (we can’t share what email address was used) and see the recent message related to the recovery of talkingbiotechpodcast.com found there.

    Thanks!

    Final Note.

Once into the account I was able to open a chat with someone that could help via email. I believe I was able to update the domain.

THank you for all of your assistance.
