import entries from wordpress. However the pictures are not imported and leave as blank.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Regarding exporting media files:
Note: This will ONLY export your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags; uploads and images may need to be manually transferred to the new blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#download-your-content
Also:
If your WordPress.com site is marked “Private,” your media files will not export properly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#exporting-media-from-private-sites

If they did not transfer automatically, yes. Go to Media ->Library in your dashboard. A list of all your uploaded media files will be there. For each one you want to download, click on the View link. When the image opens, right-click on it and select “Save image as”.
Then you go to the other blog and upload them either at Media ->Add New in the dashboard or by editing the posts and using the Add Media button in the post editor, like you originally inserted them on the old blog.

I am considering a domain shift, but I don’t want to recreate all my media by hand. Is there any way to make this an automatic transition? I plan to use exactly the same background, template and format on the new site. Thanks!

By the way, I would just be shifting to another wordpress.com site, not wordpress.org. All I want to change is the name of the blog. What difference would that make to the export? Thanks!

If you haven’t yet registered the URL you want to use you can simply change the blog’s URL. Then only that changes while everything else remain as it is.Instructions to change your blog URL are found in this support doc: http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Please make sure you read the support doc and all instructions and warnings carefully as this process cannot be reversed.
When prompted whether you’d like to keep the old URL or delete it, consider keeping it as deleted URLs can never be recovered: http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Rather, set the old address to private, and then you can either use it as a test blog to try out new themes and widgets, etc., or you can use it as a backup to your regular blog by periodically importing content to it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
As part of the process you’ll also have the option to change your username to match the new address. Note that if you do this your current username will cease to exist and you won’t later be able to go back to it. If you prefer, you can also keep your username what it is and simply change your display name (what will appear next to comments – on the forum it will still be the actual username that appears). Instructions to do that can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/

If you’ve already registered the other URL you’ll have to export your content from the old blog and import it to the new. Media files should be transferred as part of the process, but sometimes they don’t in which case you must do it manually.
