WordPress ability to scale for high volume

    We’ve been trying to use WordPress for a very popular stormchasing blog, and had trouble with multiple hosts running WordPress.org installs being able to cope with the high volume during spikes (up to 10k in an hour briefly last week). If we move it to WordPress.com, would we be able to have our site perform better?
