WordPress account and wordpress sites

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a wordpress account, assigned to my email address- there’s a test website cpr.com that I built following a wordpress class. BUT, my actual live site, also built on the wordpress platform, is andrewcondron.com- and this resides on a hosting service BlueHost. Can I access that site via wordpress or must I log in via my host (as I have been doing)?

The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff)/. It is not hosted by WordPress.com, but it is connected with Jetpack. This site is not linked to my WordPress.com account.

  • Hi there,

Can I access that site via wordpress or must I log in via my host (as I have been doing)?

You have a few options, actually! First, let me clarify the difference between WordPress and WordPress.com. WordPress (through WordPress.org, or through your host) is free software that you can install at any host:
    https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

And Jetpack is a plugin you have installed, that can help you connect your copy of WordPress to WordPress.com services.

So, you can log into your own copy of WordPress at andrewcondron.com/wp-admin . It sounds like that is what you have been doing.

Or, you can use Jetpack to connect your site, so that you manage it from WordPress.com. You would use andrewcondron.com/wp-admin and look for Jetpack there, then ensure it’s connected to this account.

Or, you could move the site here if you wanted to, so that it is hosted here rather than just connected through Jetpack.

Does that help? If not, send more details and we’ll go from there.
