WordPress ad redirecting to scam
-
Hello! My blog is still on the free plan (I’m planning on upgrading this winter, but for the time being, here we are) and a reader alerted me this evening that when they clicked into one of my posts, they were redirected to a scam promising them a Wal-Mart gift card or free smartphone. I’ve experienced this myself on other websites, so I know it isn’t an uncommon internet occurrence. Still, it’s something I’d like to avoid. Is this a problem I have any way of solving? Or is there any way of asking WordPress to solve it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My blog is doing it too: awombisaplacetostoredreams.wordpress.com
The scam is for happy.luckstarclub.com

Hi there,
Is this on mobile devices? We please need all of the following to track down the advertiser doing this:
- The person’s device/browser and operating system.
- The person’s IP address (you can find that at whatismyip.com but you shouldn’t post that info publicly in the forums, so please take a screen shot and upload it to your site’s media library instead)
- The exact URL of the page/post that showed the ad.
- What was being advertised.
- The URL that the ad takes you to.
- If possible, a screenshot of the ad that hijacked the browser.
You can also send us all this info privately via https://en.support.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

Thank you! I just sent all that information in via the link you provided. The scam was the same as awombisaplacetostoredreams mentioned: happy.luckstarclub.com

Thank you for sending that in.
Our ad networks we use on WordPress.com have very strict rules about these types of ads, but just like spammers sometimes get around our comment spam filters on WordPress.com, advertisers who don’t follow the rules sometimes get around the checks our ad networks have in place to prevent this.
Because no two people visiting your site sees the exact same ads – what they see is based on factors like location and browser history – we need all that info to narrow down exactly which ad and which advertiser it is breaking the rules.

Of course. It just happened to me, as well, trying to visit my own page from a link in Twitter. Should I send in the information the same way as previously?

Sorry, the previous reply was also from me. Didn’t realize my friend was logged in on this computer.

Anyone coming across this thread looking to report the same problem can send us the info as I described above, yes. Thanks! :)
