WordPress Add-on for Google Docs
-
I am not receiving permission to use the WordPress Add-on in Google Docs. Any ideas?
Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
Let me add to my first post.
It seems that the whole functionality of the Add-on is doubtful.
Could be a really useful Add-on. Anyone with experiences to share?

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that you’re having issues. Can you take a look at this page and tell us how far you go before you face an issue? https://apps.wordpress.com/google-docs/support/
Additionally, please try the following steps:
* Clear your browser cache before trying again. Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
* Try logging in to WordPress.com and Google Docs in an Incognito window.Let us know how it goes.

When I try to save a document to a Blog, it simply goes into perpetual “saving” mode and seems unable to actually load up anything onto that Blog.
My WP.com sites (Blogs) are registered OK in the Add-on.
I am working on it! Any more help?
Thanks

Hi there,
I am wondering since it stuck on save if a cache issue. Have you tried logging in using a different browser or clearing your browser’s cache to see if the save completes?

Thanks for the help. I am reluctant to go the whole way and clean out all tab links and cookies on my Chrome (Brave) browser but I have cleaned out cached images and files.
Another browser (Edge) does not seem to want to load up any of my WordPress.com Blog sites so, in that sense, it is a worse situation.

To clarify, you are using the Brave browser (based on Chromium) and not Google Chrome browser, yes?
What if you download and install standard Chrome and try there? Since it’s a new install of the app it will already have an empty cache/cookies. Does it work if you try it that way instead of Brave or Edge?
Thanks for the additional info!

Thanks for the continuing help.
I should have said previously – Edge is cookie free and empty of caches. I installed it just to see whether I could get the WP add-on functioning in a different, clean browser.
You seem quite sure that it is a browser/compu problem at my end, so I will keep working down that road. My original post was made to see whether this is a general problem with the Add-on. It obviously isn’t.
Thanks. I will post again if I have success.

I have been at this for a couple of hours now, with no success. I have got rid of all cookies, browsing history and cached files and images. Still cannot transfer a Google Doc to a WP Blog using Brave.
Loaded up and tried Edge. When I load up Google Drive and open the WP Add-on in Docs, I receive an error message in the WP side-box, saying “permission denied”.
I loaded up Firefox and get the same results as with Brave – the save message never clears from the WP side-box (and the Doc has not been saved in my WP Blog).
Logged out and logged back in to WP. No difference. Tried different WP Blogs. No difference.
I get the feeling that there is some conflict between Google Drive (Docs) and my WordPress Blogs.

Hi there,
Please install Chrome and see if the issue appears there as well. If it does, then uninstall the add-on from your browser and disconnect it from your WordPress.com account (https://wordpress.com/me/security/connected-applications). Then, re-install it and authorize it again.

Thanks for help from different sources!
Tried un-installing and then re-installing the WordPress.com Docs Add-on in Brave and in Edge. No improvements. Then, as a last option, installed Chrome browser. The WordPress.com Docs Add-on does function in the Chrome browser.
So, at least now I have the Add-on working for me, though I am not super-happy that it has meant the installation of the Chrome browser. This is the first time that I have encountered any problem at all with the Brave browser, which is essentially a sharpened, more secure and simpler Chrome browser, accepting all the same extensions and configurations, etc.
Thanks for a lot of quick and good help.
John
