wordpress adds a "-2" to my page url
-
Even though the url I’m trying to give to a page is not used anywhere else in my website, wordpress persists with adding a “-2” to it as soon as I click “OK”.
The page I’m referring to is https://chameleonscales.wordpress.com/about-2The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
This happens when WordPress finds another URL that is identical and it can be to a page that is sitting in the Trash so my guess is that there is another page with the same name in Trash or Drafts so that would be the first place to check.
Once you have fully deleted the original page you should be free to change the URL from /about-2 to simply /about.
I hope that helps. -
I already thought of that but I have no draft and there’s nothing in the trash. That’s why it’s bugging me.

hi,
I noticed that https://chameleonscales.wordpress.com/about redirects to https://chameleonscales.wordpress.com/.

Hi there,
The page you have set as front page on your site is already using the slug “about”:
https://chameleonscales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit
See the page slug section in the editor there.
If you change that to something else, you’ll be able to use that slug for a different page.

That’s strange, why would that not show up in admin mode ?
The slug only appeared when I went in the non-admin editor.
Is that a bug ?Thank you for the tip though, it worked.
