WordPress Admin is missing update nag to update version of wordpress

    I am trying to update WordPress to the latest version. ‘Update’ does not appear as a choice on the menu bar.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It will never appear. The version of WordPress software every wordpress.COM site runs on is the most recent one. Here, Staff do all version upgrades for us users and they are done 1 month before they are released to wordpress.ORG users.

    If you are reading anything other than the relevant support documentation here http://support.wordpress.com that applies to all wordpress.COM hosted blogs like your site then toss it away as it does not apply to your site.

    I did not realize that there were such major differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org.

    I am considering a completely new website since my commercial website got hacked. It had an old version of WordPress, evidently through WordPress.org. My commercial website is RightBlendInvesting.com, and it is now offline. Probably not a total loss, but pretty close.

    I’m trying to protect my WordPress.com website (“DailyDevotionsfor Janet), since this has devotional messages for my fiancée. Perhaps that’s TMI, but I say it so you realize the sentimental importance of the archival content. 87 posts so far, and each took over an hour to complete.

    We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
    (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
    (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

    Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin.

    You are posting to the wrong support forum.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.     As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
