WordPress and GoDaddy how do you set your own theme?

  I went thru GoDaddy and purchased the domain which I was able to successfully place onto the account. I also purchased the hosting package thru GoDaddy and added the WordPress application as instructed. However when I try to change the theme to my own theme it will not let me. I have used WordPress in the past as a CMS for another site and never had a problem. Normally I go to the themes and it allows me to upload what I want. Now I do not have that option and when I try to add it to the root folder thru GoDaddy it shows it is there but when I login WordPress the theme is not active nor is it there as theme for me to choose. Can you please advise how I need to correct the problem? Did I perhaps configure a setting wrong?

  You’ve reached support for the free sites hosted at WordPress.com. Your site is a self-hosted installation of WordPress, available at WordPress.org. If you’re having problems with a site not hosted with WordPress.com, we may not be able to help. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

  I went to the WordPress.org site and tried to login to see if I could find an answer to my question and was unable to login. The error said “The specified user does not exist.” When the WordPress site was originally created http://ellijaydeli.wordpress.com/ it was thru WordPress.com and I have never moved it over to the .org site.

  Does that help any with my question?

  I believe when I purchased my domain ellijaydeli.com and added it to the blog, I followed the DNS instructions that were provided and paid the $11. Is this where the mess up it? Did I map it to wordpress when I should have mapped it to GoDaddy? Any suggestions?

  If you’re trying to change your theme, you need to do that through the blog that you have hosted at GoDaddy.

  If you need help setting that up, please contact the folks at http://wordpress.org/support/

  You’ll need to register for a new account there before asking.
