WordPress and Netlify DNS question
-
I have an existing wordpress website in place along with an email domain (both domains are the same). I created a new version of the website and that version is deployed on netlify.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to how I can keep the existing domain/url for my wordpress website, but direct users to the newly deployed site that is hosted on netlify.
I believe that I simply need to add an A record and a CNAME record to the DNS settings of my wordpress site, but wanted to confirm. Any insight is appreciated.
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Is your site hosted by WordPress.com or do you have a self-hosted with a different provider?
-
The existing site is hosted by WordPress. The new site that I want to point the domain to is hosted by netlify.

Oh, yeah I actually came across your thread on the Netlify forums when I googled this question. It sounds like you got the help you needed from their community members.

Sounds good – just wanted to make sure the wordpress forum agreed with the solution recommended over there. Thanks.

I have added the netlify A and CNAME records to my existing sites DNS settings. The site is now displaying a privacy error. I am assuming this is due to DNS propagation not being completed yet. Is there a way to confirm that everything is set up correctly, and the privacy error is truly to due DNS propagation still occuring? Thank you.

For what it’s worth, I am seeing the following message within my domain list “Transfer successful! To make this domain work with your WordPress.com site you need to point it to WordPress.com name servers.“
