WordPress and OAuth?

  Is there OAuth somewhere on the horizon of WordPress? I’d really like to stop transmitting my username / password plaintext every time I blog from Scribefire or Live Write or other tools. If I can’t HTTPS secure xmlrpc.php, at least I don’t want to transmit usernames across the coffee-shop WiFi hotspots…
