wordpress appears in url after buying domain

hi, i just purchased a domain with wordpress the other day, but “wordpress” still appears in the url. am i missing something? i’ve already activated it…what else do i have to do? thanks

Without the domain name you purchased, it’s a bit hard for us to help – it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to migrate to the far corners of the internet

Please see here and make sure you have clicked and updated your primary domain:
5. To activate your new domain, select the button next to the one you wish to activate and click Update Primary Domain. Your blog will be accessible from both of these domains; the Primary Domain is what actually appears as your domain within the address bar of web browsers. http://www.intermediatelandscapes.com/ is redirecting to http://www.intermediatelandscapes.wordpress.com/ which means that Timethief has given you the problem. Do as she says and set your new domain as the “primary.”

thanks timethief and thesacredpath; there was a notification link to update the domain and thought that was all i had to do to activate it, turns out i had to go to domains anyway and activate it manually.
