WordPress as cms for BIG site?
-
Now here’s a question to ponder. What are folk’s thoughts about using wordpress as a cms for a really BIG site. I currently manage a schools website about 1.5gb’s worth of data. It’s has been built with Dreamweaver since way back when (V4)but also uses loads of add ons (Flash Galleries, jalbum photo galleries, asp questionaires, feedback forms etc etc the list is endless)
HOWEVER it really is time to stop hand cranking it and to divolve editorial control out to departments & teachers. I’ve looked at virtually ALL the cms options around (It HAS to be Open Source – No budget, this is the UK for heavens sake) Joomla, Drupal, Modle, CMSMS, Wordcircle etc etc and even after all that WordPress still captivates and inspires. I know some people do use it for CMs driven sites but I’ve never seen one as BIG as I am thinking. Am I just barking up the wrong tree? Are there really better tools out there for the job? What do YOU think? A penny for your thoughts. -
You need to post this question over at the wordpress.ORG support forum as this forum is for blogs hosted at wordpress.COM and we cannot do flash here.
