  I wonder if I can have a website through wordpress but have the name as .com without wordpress? thanks

  Hi. Yes, you can have a custom domain name. Here’s how to do it:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

  Remember that domain mapping does exactly that: replace your __.wordpress.com address with a custom domain name. It does not activate new functions or create new privileges such as putting advertising or installing plugins.
