WordPress as website, not a blog??
-
I am in the process of building my WordPress site. I want to use it as a website, not a blog. Is there anyway to disable the “posting” and “comment” option? The answer always seems to be to upgrade the CSS option, but I am wondering if anyone knows a different way to do this?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no other way. We cannot access or edit templates or themes. We cannot edit gunctionality at all. We can only edit appearnce by editing CSS.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

You can turn off the option for visitors to comment on any Post or Page that you want – just go to the edit the Post or Page and page down a bit and you should see a turn off comment option.

Good catch! Disabling commenting does not equal removing the “leave commnet” or “Leave a Reply ” phrase. We have had so many of those that I goofed. -

They ask about “regular web site” which I interpreted as not having comments on the Pages etc. which could look a bit tacky – you are also correct that getting rid of the “comment” line is a CSS issue but to me seeing the “comment” line at the bottom of a Page does not bother me.
This Forum is a group thing and we all bring different skills and sometimes see different things in the questions based on our different background – works great I think.

go to >settings then >reading and you can set a static front page rather than having blog posts. my site has this: http://theretrospectband.wordpress.com… is that what you mean?
