WordPress automatically displays a cached image
-
Hello, I have a problem that seems to be new… I want to display an image (and link to it directly)
http://www.sernageomin.cl/camaras/Calbuco/fija/calbuco.jpg
but WordPress automatically displays an image
https://i1.wp.com/www.sernageomin.cl/camaras/Calbuco/fija/calbuco.jpg
which is not the same.I used “Add Media” > Insert from URL > (Link to: image URL)
The html looks correct, and it is displayed correctly on the Edit page – but not in the post. What can I do? Thanks for any help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there, Granyia,
Could you please send me a link to your post that contains this image? I can take a look at why this is happening.
If the third-party URL isn’t working properly, you may actually wish to upload the preferred image to your own Media Library, add that image to your post, then link that image back to the third-party website with the full URL.
Thanks much!

Hello and thank you robin! This is the article in question, the image is abt. two thirds down:
https://volcanohotspot.wordpress.com/2015/04/23/calbuco-chile-twin-eruptions-on-april-2223-2015/This is a still webcam image that updates every 3 minutes. So, the new image has always the same name (calbuco.jpg), and normally one can get it by refreshing the page. The back-linking from the image or from the heading (SERNAGEOMIN Webcam:) works fine. It’s just that in the post wordpress displays always the same (the oldest) image, beginning with ‘https://i1.wp.com/www….’

Hey there, Granyia!
Well, we’ve tried everything, and because of the way our system caches/displays images from other URLs, we cannot make your live feed work. We’re just not currently set up to display live feeds from a web cam.
You’ve really done the best thing, by adding a link to the outside site for your visitors to click.
If this is a feature that interests you, you might consider leaving your idea here:

Hm… what a pity! But many thanks anyway for your efforts, and I will suggest the idea in the forum. Have a great weekend!

Thanks. We thought the webcam of the volcano was so cool! Best of luck with the project…and stay in touch if you need anything else :)
