In WP, if you choose SettingsDiscussion, and then scroll down to ‘Default avatar’, you see various options like ‘Mystery’ etc. You should also see a small image or thumbnail to give you an idea of what an option looks like. However, on my sites, these images or thumbnails are not displayed, I think maybe they are missing.
Is there anything I can do to get this side of things working?I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Found something more. If I right-click on the placeholders for these images, I can download an image and it is the correct image. The image is just not being displayed in the WP Discussion page.

I do not see any sites under your @stevejauna WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.
Is it possible you created your site under a different login with us or are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Thanks for your reply!
I’ve resolved the problem. It was caused by the Bitdefender browser extension. When I temporarily disabled the extension, the problem went away. -
